Emunah has always been at the forefront of social services for children and families in crisis. Since the horrific events of October 7th, Emunah’s 13 counseling centers have taken prominence, stepping up to offer counseling and therapy to the tens of thousands of Israelis who have been traumatized by the horrors they have witnessed and the upheaval they have experienced. Though many of the therapist themselves live in communities that have suffered directly from the hostilities, such as Sderot and Netivot, they continue to care for their existing and new clients, while dealing with their own personal traumas at the same time. Emunah has also set up a hotline for people requiring immediate attention *2357.
Machon Beer Emunah’s geriatric experts and healthy intimacy counselors ensure that the elderly and the displaced families who are living in crowded unfamiliar conditions are kept safe. High schools have opened their doors to the displaced families, giving them a safe anchor. The children in our residential homes, while dealing with their own fears, are being encouraged to host and help those other children whose lives have been disrupted, empowering themselves at the same time.
