After many months of preparation we all enjoyed a very successful fundraiser – in aid of the Achuzat Sara Children’s Home Bnei Brak! All the boxes were ticked: the vibe was great; speaker Dr Yael Joffe, PhD RD FACN, had the attention of the audience and the food was in sync with the subject – nutrition with a twist, hence “NEW-TRITION FOR THE NEW AGE”. I.e. Bespoke dietetics through precision medicine – one size no longer fits all. To find an adequate analogy, if you build a house – you have plans; if you go on a roadtrip – you take a map or use a GPS…so when you go on diet you need to know your genetic make-up [DNA: test inner cheek swab]!
An audience of about 180 enjoyed an interesting morning listening to guest speaker Dr Yael Joffe, PhD RD FACN on the subject of nutrigenomics; Rabbi M. Liebenberg delivered a short D’var Torah and our MC Heather Blumenthal held it all together professionally for us.
An awareness of Emunah was thus created. People came away inspired and uplifted!
World Emunah in the forefront
Every year the Jewish Federations of North America get together for their annual general assembly (GA) and this year was no different. This year’s GA was held in November 2017 in Los Angeles. And, WE were there! The GA is the annual focal point for nearly 3,000 of North America’s top Jewish communal leaders to learn, share and discuss the relevant issues effecting World Jewry.
In an exciting first and thanks to the initiative of our dedicated development coordinator Ruth Guggenheim, World Emunah set up an information booth to raise awareness regarding the life changing work done daily by Emunah in Israel. Our team connected with hundreds of delegates, sharing the Emunah story, distributing resource materials, and cultivating new relationships.
Next year, the GA will be in Tel Aviv in October 22-24, 2018. And we’ll be there!
World Emunah welcomes the first Great Neck Mother and Daughter Mission in Israel!
The group will travel around Israel and visit our projects throughout the week and then spend the Shabbat at Emunah Bet Elazraki Children's Home.
