National Volunteers’ Day
The sun shone brightly on February 13th 2019 when over 180 ladies and gentlemen of the English Speaking Emunah Chapters in Israel convened to celebrate our Annual National Volunteers' Day at "Vitrage" in Ness Ziona.
The Luncheon itself was preceded by a Bazaar which was a financial success. At the same time there was a beautifully laid out reception; at 12 o'clock we entered the hall itself to celebrate our achievements of the last year.
We were honoured to have among the guests Dina Hahn, President of World Emunah who addressed us briefly, thanking us for the work we do. Evelynne Goldman, who is the National Chairman of the Emunah English Speaking Chapters, was the M.C. for the day, and introduced Leesa Goren of the Masua Chapter in Petach Tikva who gave the D'var Torah.
Before Evelynne distributed the Ot Shevach certificates for each Chapter she announced that we had collected over NIS 600,000 during the past year. These monies were distributed to our various Emunah Institutions.
This year we initiated the Lifetime Achievement Awards which were presented to three of our Ladies who have given of their time and energy for many, many years on behalf of Emunah. Those honoured were Cynthia Rose of Jerusalem, Roseruth Webber for her work whilst living in Netanya and Millie Wolf for her work in Ra'anana. We salute them and wish them many years of good health knowing that they will continue to work for our Emunah Children.
We were honoured to have as our Guest Speaker Laura Ben David who gave a very informative insight into some of the "Lost and Hidden Communities" around the world which she, together with Michael Freund and others, are helping to regain their Jewish roots.
The food was excellent, the ambience was good and we all met up with friends that we had not seen since the last Luncheon. The Hatikvah was sung before we wended our way back home invigorated to carry on the work of caring for our Emunah children.
